STUDIUM GENERALE: PUSH PR AND ADVERTISING TO THEIR LIMITS AND BEYOND

Communication Program of Faculty of Social and Political Science Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (FISIP UAJY) has held a public lecture (Studium Generale) on Saturday, 15 March 2014 at FISIP UAJY Auditorium. The public lecture aimed to give students an idea of how marketing communication, advertising and public relations work. The speakers in this seminar were Agus Mashud (PT Pertamina) and Handoko Hendroyono (OneCom Indonesia).

Today, marketing communication, advertising and public relations are facing a challenge due to the changes in economy, social, culture and technology.  Since the advancement of internet, for instance, advertising and public relations involve more digital and convergence activities. This opens up opportunities as well as new challenges for practitioners and whomever that wishes to dive into the industry.

On one hand, the world of marketing communication, advertising and public relations has become more dynamic, interesting and compatible with young generations who are always connected to internet.   However, this situation demands practitioners to always improve their skills and be up-to-date to face future challenges.

After the public lecture, students are expected to gain more knowledge on how to enhance their skills in the digital world as we see nowadays so that they will be able to push their potential to the maximum (awan 15/3/2014)
