Thursday, May 26th 2016, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (UAJY) has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in cultural and education with Indian Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR) – Embassy of India, Jakarta. The Mou was expected to strengthen the partnership and good relation between UAJY and Embassy Of India.
The MoU between UAJY and ICCR has started in 2013. During that time, there were activities and program such as India Corner in UAJY Library that provides books, films and other informations of India culture, medical sciences, social and political science, and many more. Other than India Corner, there were also some of cultural events, such as Slice of India, India Film Festival, and Sufi Singer Show.
UAJY and ICCR committed to enhance and strengthen the partnership by signing and renew the MoU. The partnership will get more intensive and effective through Professor Visit Program, Internship, Workshops ang Training.
The Rector of UAJY Mr. Gregorius Sri Nurhartanto mentioned that he hoped the partnership between UAJY and ICCR will become enlarging and broadenin for both institutions, especially in term of support towards higher education. “I hope that we will continue this partnership further more, I hope we will be able to make the exchange program for students and professor between UAJY and universities in India”, Mr. Nurhantanto said.
The Deputy Chief of Mission, Indian Embassy, Mr. Manish, appreciated and welcomed the ideas to enlarge the partnership in broader areas such programs to support partnership and higher education in both countries. He stressed out that both UAJY and ICCR should work together to support the partnership between UAJY and the Embassy of India. He invited UAJY to attend Indian Education Fair on September 2016.. Further more, in order to strengthen the good relation between UAJY and ICCR, he offered UAJY to join the Yoga Course by the Embassy of India. (KKP)
